Hello, my name is Rew.
I'm an English tutor with more than 10 years teaching experience. My teaching style is supportive and friendly, I like to maintain a fun atmosphere and use a variety of different methods to teach through. I also keep very concise records to monitor progress so you can clearly see any advancements you have made. I supply a review sheet (a debrief) following each lesson that details any areas to work on or mistakes made during class.
I have studied a number of qualifications to improve my teaching skills over the years that include a degree in Film &e Teaching Accreditation) & TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate in addition to being a certified IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examiner. I have also worked as a proofreader for large corporations that included Truefitt & Hill, Home-Start and The Oxford University Press.
I first became interested in Japanese culture through Film and eventually moved to Japan for more than 6 years, teaching at various institutions that included SHANE English, Kanagawa University (Kanagawa Koka Daigaku) and Mitsubishi Electric.
I lived in the Kanagawa and Fukushima areas and developed a love for both Japanese food and traditional Japanese culture.
I currently live in the Scottish Highlands and in my spare time often go walking, enjoy reading, watching various films and TV - as well as a keen interest in nature and forestry.
I play guitar and was in a number of bands in my youth and have a keen interest in Delta Blues (50's and 60's blues) and folk and indie music from the 1960's to the 2000's so would love to talk music with you!
I'm a keen chef so love to cook and try out new culinary ideas. I'd love to chat
about cooking or baking with you and exchange recipes!
