Hello!

My name is AJ, and I am an English teaching from the United States currently living in Japan. I have been teaching for over 10 years in the US, Taiwan, and now Japan.

In university, I studied linguistics (B.A Linguistics, M.S. Applied Linguistics) with an emphasis on teaching English, and hold a certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I enjoy language and want to share my love of English with everyone!

My teaching style is relaxed. When my student has a goal or target, I create lessons that can help them reach their goal. This includes passing tests, interviews, or participating in English language competitions or programs. When my student wants to study general English, I focus on functional English: instead of memorizing many things, the goal should be to use English and develop communication skills.

My previous students have described me as kind, understanding, friendly, and easy to understand. My goal is to create a lesson where you can feel comfortable and encouraged to study English and reach your goals!
