Hello! I’m Teacher Ian.

I am a TEFL-certified English tutor and passionate teacher from South Africa. I have almost 20 years of international teaching experience in South Africa, Malaysia, and online.

I am very creative in the way I teach. I use many different topics and fun activities, so everyone can find something they enjoy. Please look at my lesson list — there is something for everyone!

I specialise in English conversation, public speaking, and drama-based learning. I love helping students speak with confidence and express themselves clearly and naturally.

I have taught in top international schools, directed big theatre productions, and supported students from many cultures and language backgrounds. I also hold a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. I have experience teaching different curricula, including Cambridge and Edexcel, for all levels from beginner to advanced.

In 2016, I visited Japan and fell in love with the southern region, especially Fukuoka and Nagasaki. The warm people, beautiful culture, and friendly connections inspired me to keep working with Japanese learners and students from around the world.

My lessons are fun, engaging, and made just for you. Whether you want to prepare for an interview, improve daily conversation, or learn to speak confidently on stage, I can help. I can also help you impress your friend and family with your skills in the kitchen, baking up a storm - while learning English too!
