Nice to meet you.
I’m Ines Tsukui (津久井イネス), a Portuguese language tutor who loves exploring open-air hot springs all over Japan.
For me, there’s nothing more soothing than soaking in a hot spring while traveling and taking in the local atmosphere and way of life.
I teach Portuguese with the belief that “learning a language means engaging with that country’s culture and values.”
I completed a graduate program in Portuguese language teaching methodology for non-native speakers at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and have specialized in instructing students learning Portuguese.
In Japan, I have been involved in Portuguese language education for over 18 years across a variety of settings, including universities, language schools, government agencies, international organizations, and corporate training programs.
I have experience teaching Japanese students at JICA, universities (such as TUFS), and multinational corporations.
I have also been involved in revising and developing a 309-page Portuguese language textbook for JICA, as well as creating supplementary materials. I specialize in providing clear, systematic instruction that takes real-world usage scenarios into account.
In my lessons, I tailor my teaching to each student’s individual goals, background, and areas of interest, whether they are beginners or advanced-level learners.
Regarding pronunciation, rather than focusing solely on “accuracy,” I prioritize speaking in a way that naturally resonates with others, while providing careful support tailored to each student’s pace and goals.
As a Portuguese language tutor, one of the greatest joys of my work is meeting a diverse range of people of different ages, professions, and interests.
Every lesson becomes a rich experience of mutual learning that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of teaching and learning.
In my lessons, I strive to help you experience the “culture behind the language” by introducing not only the language itself, but also Brazil’s beautiful landscapes, culinary culture, music, and the ways of thinking and values of its people.
In my personal life, I enjoy traveling, spending time in nature, listening to music, practicing yoga, reading, watching movies, and painting.
I don’t limit myself to specific hobbies, but rather, I value each student’s individual interests and the topics they wish to discuss, so I welcome conversations on any subject.
I hope to provide lessons where you can truly experience the joy of speaking in a relaxed atmosphere.
Please do not hesitate to join my lessons.
