Hello, my name is Shalome, and I’m from Cape Town.
I am a friendly, patient, and encouraging teacher who enjoys helping students build confidence in English through relaxed and engaging conversation. I believe learning works best when students feel comfortable, supported, and free to express themselves naturally. My classes are a safe space where making mistakes is welcomed, because mistakes are one of the most important parts of learning and improving.
Before teaching, I worked for many years as a chef, and cooking is still one of my greatest passions. I also love reading and spending time exploring different stories, ideas, and cultures through books. Later, I managed a bookstore for a local NGO, which strengthened my love for language, communication, and connecting with people from different backgrounds.
I am TEFL certified and focus mainly on conversational English, pronunciation, vocabulary building, fluency, and natural speaking practice. My teaching style is student-centered, supportive, and adaptable to each learner’s goals, interests, and comfort level.
In my lessons, we focus on meaningful conversation, vocabulary practice, pronunciation correction, and topic-based speaking exercises. I provide gentle corrections and supportive feedback to help students improve naturally and build confidence over time.
I am open to teaching both teens and adults, especially intermediate and advanced learners who want to improve fluency, confidence, and real-world communication skills.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your English goals.
