Nice to meet you!
I’m Jamy, a Korean language tutor :)
I’m a language tutor who has a background in the business field. I worked in the webtoon and IT industries for 20 years, communicating with colleagues and partners both in South Korea and abroad through emails and meetings.
I spent a year in Japan learning Japanese, and I understand better than anyone else the concerns I felt back then:
“Is this expression rude? How will the other person interpret it?”
I understand thses concerns better than anyone else.
These days, with AI translation, it’s easy to quickly handle something like a single email.
However, there are some things that translation tools simply cannot do for you.
These include the subtle tones and nuances embedded in words,
as well as the confidence that comes from understanding and mastering them on your own.
I wanted to teach lessons that directly convey these aspects,
which is why I started teaching Korean.
Even when conveying the same content, the way you express it can make it sound polite
or cold. I believe that truly internalizing such differences through actually practciing reading and writing,
as well as learning it through experience, is the real skill that translation tools simply cannot provide.
I look forward to working with the following learners:
✔Those who want to learn to judge nuances on their own, without relying on AI translation
✔Those who have opportunities to interact with Korean colleagues or business partners at work
✔Those who want to know how to switch between formal and casual expressions
✔Those who understand the grammar but lack confidence when using it in real-life situations
✔Those who want to chat casually in Korean
Here’s How My Lessons Work
Using actual business emails and specific scenarios as examples, we’ll read through them together,
compare the tone, and practice revising them.
Rather than simply giving you the “correct” answer, I’ll help you develop your own intuition
by working with you to figure out why a particular expression sounds more natural.
I’ll also incorporate casual free-talk sessions into the lessons,
so please feel free to join in without feeling too pressured.
Thanks to my experience living in Japan, I’m well-versed in the areas that Japanese learners often find challenging,
as well as Korean expressions that are easily confused with Japanese.
I’ll explain in Japanese if necessary, so even beginners can feel confident getting started.
Let’s work together to make the lesson feel like a casual conversation,
while still ensuring your skills improve steadily.
I look forward to seeing you in my lessons!
