Profile
My name is Tatiana, I am 32 years old and I am a native Spanish speaker from Argentina currently living in Santiago, Chile. I have just moved here from Australia, where I lived six years (2012 – 2018) and where I worked full-time as a Spanish teacher at two different language schools.
I am a QUALIFIED Spanish<>English Translator and I have more than 7 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE teaching Spanish as a second language in all kinds of settings: language schools, 1-on-1 private tuition, large and small groups, in person and Skype lessons.
Students from all over the world (United States, Canada, France, Morocco, England, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, among others) have relied on my services and have been successful in reaching their goals: becoming fluent students, reaching a proficient level, learning just the basics for travelling, studying verb tenses deeply, maintaining their advanced level skills, etc.
I have taught Spanish from “hola” all the way down to the most advanced grammar topics:
- At the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels
- Group classes and one-on-one instruction
- Immersion courses, summer courses, Spanish for travel and business
- Comprehensive courses and specific skills courses (such as, conversation courses, writing workshops, listening practice, etc.)
Qualifications
- English <> Spanish Translator - Faculty of Languages, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina)
-Legal and Economic Translator - Faculty of Languages, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina)
- International Edition of Spanish Texts - Fundación Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y Literarios - Litterae (Argentina) and Fundación del Español Urgente - FUNDÉU (España)
Teaching Style
In most cases, my classes focus on learning through SPEAKING (a lot!), but clearly, that depends on each student’s goals and interests, as these are lessons tailored just for you. Grammar, vocabulary, and listening-comprehension skills are mainly learnt through conversation. We will only take around 10 minutes of our lesson to explain the grammar topic and we will dedicate the rest of the class to communication and conversation activities on that topic. The student will constantly practice and improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, through writing tasks (assigned for homework), conversation, reading-comprehension tasks, personal story-telling, and many other online resources.
Do I assign homework? I generally do, as long as you have the time to do it. Homework is useful in preventing you from forgetting all we have learnt from one class to the other :) My classes are fun and relaxed. The student will get the class book on pdf. format and we will also be using other web resources.
The lessons are designed according to the student’s goals and interests. For that reason, on our free initial session the student will specify why they want to study the language: travelling, work, hobby, English or Spanish speaking partner?
