Introduction
Hello, my name is Tara! I live in a small town in Canada with my family. I have a 26 year old daughter and a 9 month old granddaughter. She lives with me, and you may occasionally hear her in the background. She is usually not loud, but if this causes a big problem in our lesson, I will gladly provide a coupon for the next time. I enjoy cooking, shopping and exercising.
Experience
I have volunteered to teach conversational English to new immigrants to Canada at a church for one year. My daughter is a certified ESL teacher and she often introduces her students to me as well. I have met many people from East Asia and offered help to improve their everyday English conversation ability.
I have also been a part of many emotional support circles, so I also offer emotional support. I will be there to listen to any problems you may have, and I can offer advice if wanted.
Teaching Style
I understand that learning a new language is difficult. Let's have fun together and focus on conversation! The most important thing is to be understood by native English speakers. I will listen to you and offer advice and recommendations on how to improve your English. I can offer suggestions for idioms, slang, better phrasing, etc. I am a native speaker, so I speak very naturally. If you would like me to slow down, please don't hesitate to ask me! I am also open to any questions you may have.
I encourage you to book a trial lesson with me. I truly believe that you will have a good time, and you'll learn something new with each lesson. Even though I cannot speak a foreign language, I am an excellent communicator and I can use a variety of methods to ensure your understanding.
I hope to see you soon!
- Tara
