My name is Gerard and I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher and English language teacher from Dublin, Ireland. I have been a teacher for seven years. I started off teaching English literature and History at secondary school level for two years. I then went into the field of English language teaching and have been working in this area for four years now. Currently, I manage an English language school in Dublin city centre. 

My teaching experiences to date have afforded me the opportunity to assume all the responsibilities of a high-school teacher and English language teacher at multiple levels. I am always intimately involved in all aspects of teaching, particular when it comes down to planning and delivering classes in detail. I ensure a variety of interesting and fun activities are included in my lessons to give all students the chance to experience learning in their own preferred style. Aditionally, my teaching experiences have allowed me to develop a strong understanding in the importance of both the technical and non-technical roles that are required to perform at the highest level. 

Apart from my extensive knowledge of current education legislation, practices and procedures, I feel that my greatest strengths are my abilities to build sound relationships with students, my skills at gaining a clear understanding of a pupils exact needs and my commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students at all times. I am a firm believer in the caring side of teaching and I have found students respond very well to my approach. I encourage a positive and questioning environment in the classroom which I believe leads to an improved student understanding in the more difficult aspects of English language learning.
