My dear students, Hope you all are doing great!

My name is Thomas. You can see a short intro of mine in the above video but in case if you can afford some of your valuable time then let me take you through a short journey explaining how this student (me) from Kumamoto, Japan reached USA and became one of the dedicated teachers found online!

"I always see a little me in each of you!"

So, let me narrate my story as a talk I had with my favorite student (No doubt, that's YOU!). So, here we go...

Once upon a time, after finishing my classes, a student of mine came to me with the eagerness to know me personally.

My Journey as a Teacher:

Student: Sir, Can you please share with me your journey as a teacher in short?

Me: Ummm... Okay my dear, long story short, I have 8 years of dedicated experience teaching students from various countries like Japan, Thailand, USA, and Singapore.

"There is no limit to learning! Neither age nor time can bound it!"

Subject of Expertise:

Student: Oh, okay. Which subject do you usually prefer to teach us?

Me: I love teaching everything. But since I have a strong background in Business English, Finance (Investing), and IT as I have worked in the IT and financial industry for over 10 years (Japan, Tokyo, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom). I would prefer them over other topics. But I give priority to the needs of my students than my preferences. Like for example, if you do have any particular goals you want to achieve in English, regardless if it is for testing such as the Eiken, TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC, or if it is for a presentation, I am happy to help.

My Preference for Teaching:

Student: Wow, that's great to hear! So do you prefer to teach only college students?

Me: No, I usually don't limit myself to a particular age group. I taught in schools and even in private tutoring centers for students across different age groups. But it's undeniable that some of my specialized fields focus on adults. So, I am especially strong at teaching students who usually are adults and professionals who want to increase their English skills further both professionally and casually as well.

Student: Ufff... I wonder how you are teaching adults. I heard from others that it's really difficult to teach them. How do you usually manage that?

Me: It's all in the hands of the teacher, my dear! I never experienced anything like that. I usually like to be a friendly, enthusiastic, and patient teacher. I always strive to meet the abilities, interests, and needs of my students. I am passionate about making the learning meaningful to each individual and also makes them feel confident and motivated in expressing her/himself.

My Exposure to Cultures:

Student: That's true sir, I like your way of teaching, presentation, and even English. Yes... How did you learn to speak English so differently? I mean your slang is quite different.

Me: Living and working both in Japan and overseas as a professional has allowed me to become both culturally aware and sensitive about the difficulties of learning English. So, I became familiar with both the language and the culture.

Student: That's amazing! Even I love to go overseas but unlike you, my father is always busy with his works. So no plans, no trips.

Me: My dear, don't worry about that, just use your time well. I can see your future in your eyes. One day, you will achieve all your dreams. Till then use your time to do some other activities like sports. That would maintain your health well. Do you know what I do when I get some time?

Hobbies:

Student: Mmmmm... Football?

Me: Haha... My hobbies are tennis, surfing, investing, and do you know I played tennis for over 20 years. I used to play tennis professionally as well. I love tennis. Other than that I enjoy investing in various investment opportunities. My recent passion was on investing in cryptocurrency where I run and own a crypto mining facility.

Where am I?

Student: Excellent! But If I get time, I will come and visit your home to see your family.

Me: Oh! That's great! I currently reside in the U.S., Miami Florida but I often spend time in Thailand as well. My wife is from Thailand and I have 2 daughters as well. So, you will have a good time spending with us.

Student: Great! Thank you, sir. Greetings to your family.

Me: Thank you! Greeting your family too. Have a nice day my dear!

Degrees in both Information Technology and Business Communication.

2. TEFL Teaching Certificates for both Adults and Young Learners.

3. Experience in Teaching Testing Materials (SAT, SAT II, TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS, Eiken Grade 1,2,3)

Work History:

1. Total of 8 Years of Experiences Teaching Adults and Children Ages 5 to 18 in Japan, USA, Singapore, South Korea, China, and Thailand.

2. 5 Years Experience teaching Testing Materials and Assisting Students Enter into Universities Around the World.

4. Over 2 Years of Experience teaching online in both group and one-on-one settings.

5. 10 Years Experience working as an IT and Financial Consultant in Japan, Singapore, USA, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.

6. 12 years Experience teaching tennis to adults and children.
