       Hello Everyone!  My name is Mercy Gacutan, better known to my students as Teacher Mercy.  I'm a Special Educator for seven years and an On-line English tutor for six years.  I'm a licensed teacher and certified by TESOL and TEYL.  As a simple person, I am a homebody rather than a traveller.  I love cooking for my family.  When not working, I enjoy watching Netflix, planting vegetables and playing with my dog.  As a teacher, I'm a very patient person.  I don't want my students to experience the unpleasant things I had when I was learning the language for the first time.  I like helping my students achieve their learning goals.  In my class, mistakes are no big deal, but learning from the mistakes is what matters most.  YOU are the center my lesson.


 

           Currently, I’m a graduate student at the University of the Philippines taking up Special Education.  My thesis on Self-regulation to Children with Learning Disabilities is still a work in progress.  Because of the pandemic, my studies have been put on hold but it never failed me to pursue doing what I love, to teach.   I love teaching English to beginners because they are like babies to me.  I want to see their faces lit up everytime they feel their progress.  I encourage my students not to be shy but to have their hopes high and be brave in pursuing their dreams.
