My name is Reid Yearwood and I'm from the beautiful city of Cincinnati, Ohio. Being from the Midwest of the United States, I pride myself in having a clear and neutral accent that allows my students to understand everything and feel comfortable.
I have a degree from Ohio University in Business Administration as well as a TEFL/TESOL Certificate. After working in sales for 2 years I decided to travel the world, teach, learn another language, and experience new cultures.
I started working at Berlitz, a language institute, in Panama City, Panama and learned how to be an effective and enthusiastic English as a second language instructor. My one year contract with Berlitz taught me how to teach grammar as tool and provide students with accuracy and fluency based activities. During my time at Berlitz, I taught classes of 10 students ranging in ages from 8 to 50. After completing my contract, I decided I wanted to experience working at a school.
I accepted the job as High School English Instructional Specialist at a prestigious private school in Bogota, Colombia. I spent three years at Colegio Bilingue PIO XII and enjoyed every second influencing and working with young learners in grades 2 through 11.
With experience teaching adults and kids, I have developed an effective ESL methodology that provides my students with dynamic, enthusiastic, and well-planned classes that allow each student to improve at a rapid rate. As an ESL Instructor that has learned a language himself, I understand the importance of the student speaking and the teacher being there to ask questions in order to use specific tenses, make corrections when neccessary, and promote constant conversation.
In my free time I really enjoy playing basketball, cooking, reading, and most importantly, traveling. I have experience teaching students of all ages and levels and I enjoy building my classes around each students needs and desires. I look forward to meeting and working with you soon.
