Hello everyone. My name is Alison, I am a fun loving, young at heart 51 year old married lady with 3 grown children. I was born in Cape Town, South Africa and have recently moved to Cyprus with my husband to start a new adventure in our lives. I enjoy doing 5D Diamond Art, baking our South African national cake "Milktart" and I love Dragonflies! I have also recently started doing Archery.
I have had the privilege of Home Schooling my own children when they where much younger from age 0 - 14 yrs. My son has Aspergers Syndrome so we figured out very soon that he needed us to read to him to help with his listening skills and comprehension and also to read his homework questions so he could hear correctly what was being asked, this helped him to be able to understand the questions and give the correct answers. This helped me to see just how important the foundation of education is and how one very small area like reading is so helpful.
A one on one approach is best as I can read at a pace that is comfortable for you or your child. You or your child are also free to ask questions about the meaning of words and at the end of the chapter or session, I can make sure that you or they understand exactly what has been heard.
It would be great to have video while reading or chatting with you or them. My facial expressions will also then be visible as I am reading or chatting with you. It would be helpful if you or your child are in a fairly quiet area of the house or office where you or they will not be easily distracted. It is important that you or your child are engaged in the lesson, which is why you or your child should choose what is being read to them. This will also ensure that the content of the book is appropriate for the age of the person.
I do not have age or gender restrictions at this stage.
I feel passionately about offering what is often overlooked, and that is someone to read to you or your child. I would also love to have casual conversations with you, to help you improve your English.
I do not have any formal teaching qualifications and I am not wanting to teach you or your child English lessons.
