Hello!
My name is Saeko, and I'm a Japanese teacher in New York, America. I have been teaching Japanese to beginners through advanced for 5 years in Toyama, Japan.

I specialize in tutoring Japanese for
- daily conversation,
- business, and
- tests such as the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). 

I am also able to edit and provide feedback for professional resumes and employment applications, as I have a lot of experience doing so in my previous job working as an International Student Coordinator.

I can also play the role of an interviewer for mock interviews to improve not only your interview skills, but your ability to communicate in Japanese as a whole.

I have taught all age ranges, from very young children up to adults and those in their old age.

When I teach children, I know the importance of a good relationship with the child so I have a great deal of patience and understanding for them. I usually use pictures, drawings, games, and real objects to try to make my lessons memorable and enjoyable for my students. Teaching children requires a range of approaches to keep their attention so I make my lessons interesting and fun so that children stay focused for the entire duration of the lesson.

For adults, I utilize a more formal textbook approach, typically focusing on conversation for daily use, but I am flexible should students wish to learn via alternate means. I have taught Japanese to people from many countries and am very adaptable and understanding of each of my students' situations. For the JLPT, 8 of my students have passed N1, 15 have passed N2, 40 have passed N3.

After request is confirmed (fixed)

  • Less than 3hours before lesson start time.→ 100% of price charged.
  • Between 3-6hours before lesson start time.→ 50% of price charged.
  • No-Show→ 100% of price charged.
