My name is Alex. I am an experienced freelance English teacher and a Cambridge ESOL Speaking Examiner based in the Caribbean. I have a degree in Teaching, hold the Cambridge COTE-ICELT and the Cambridge TKT certificates, as well as the TESOL Certificate from the Canadian Institute of English.
I love traveling, languages, staying fit and making friends. That is why in my free time I am either planning trips, working out at the gym, practicing sports or meeting new people. I also listen to music and go dancing regularly. By the way, I used to be conversational in Japanese.
About my teaching
My teaching is aligned with the high standards of the University of Cambridge in the UK. The CEFR is the international standard for language ability I use, both, in formal assessments and when setting goals for my students.
I prepare for class according to the needs of each individual student. I can teach:
English for Specific Purposes (interviews, yoga, landscaping, training, etc.),
IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC preparation courses
- I teach all levels, from beginner to advanced,
- I have experience with students from over 30 countries, including Japan.
I was a lecturer and adjunct teaching ESL at three of the top universities in Mexico. Also, I have been taught business English, TOEFL, TOEIC and IELTS online and in-company. Now I only teach online.
My students work in several fields, they are freelancers, first officers (aviation), staff, managers, and executives working for several international companies like GESTAMP, SAP, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund, including Nissan, and the presidents of a couple overseas business divisions of Marubeni-Itochu Inc.
One of the most important reasons I am a successful teacher is that I love it. My ultimate goal is what gives me the greatest satisfaction: helping students speak English freely and communicate effectively.
I am a professional. I facilitate learning. I use the most effective methods and techniques that best match your strengths. Thus, I ensure high quality lessons.
My students always leave with a smile of satisfaction, and you will, too.
