Theater Scenes: A Summer in the French Style Scènes de théâtre : un été à la française

In this seminar, I’ll lead a guided reading of some fairly recent plays, to explore contemporary theater in a lively and accessible way.

Even if you don’t understand everything right away, that’s not a problem: in theater, you’re quickly drawn in by the characters, the situations, the emotions, and the use of voices. We often grasp the essentials through contexts, tone, and action, without needing to analyze everything word for word.

The goal is precisely to show that theater isn’t something difficult, but rather a living space where language is also understood through listening, rhythm, and the joys of the scenes.

Dans ce séminaire, je proposerai la lecture animée de pièces assez récentes, pour découvrir le théâtre contemporain de manière vivante et accessible.

Même si tout n’est pas compris immédiatement, ce n’est pas un problème : au théâtre, on est vite porté par les personnages, les situations, les émotions et le jeu des voix. On comprend souvent l’essentiel grâce au contexte, au ton et à l’action, sans avoir besoin de tout analyser mot à mot.

L’objectif est justement de montrer que le théâtre n’est pas quelque chose de difficile, mais au contraire un espace vivant où la langue se comprend aussi par l’écoute, le rythme et le plaisir des scènes.
