I visited a friend who was teaching at the foot of Mount Elgon in Western Kenya. He lived in a remote village where,at that time, the only generator powered the fridge that cooled the beers.
Having not showered for days and smelling like warthogs, we asked if there was anywhere to bathe. We were advised that there was a waterfall "a little way" up the mountain. After climbing a 100 meter sheer cliff accompanied by our 10 year old and 60 year guides, who managed it in half the time as my friend and I, we hiked about an hour through the jungle to find a magical towering fall of water crashing through the trees. While we washed, a leopard could be heard nearby and giraffe could be seen on the savannah below.
