Travelling from the UK to France

Hannah N

Hi! Recently I went on a little trip to France. I've been to France several times and I thought people might be interested to know that there are many different ways to go to France from the UK. It is one of the nearest countries. You can travel by airplane, by car, by bus, by ferry or by train!

The first time I went to France I went by train and ferry. I live in Edinburgh, which is in the north of the UK, so I had to travel to Dover by train. Dover is in the south, and from there you can see France across the water. You can get a ferry across the English Channel to Calais in France. The ferry is only around 90 minutes.  You can take a car on the ferry, so people can travel with their own car and do a road trip around France or even Europe.

The next time I went to France, I travelled by train from London. From London it is really easy to get to France, you can get the Eurostar train direct to Paris. It only takes 2 hours. The train goes through a tunnel under the sea.  Personally this is my favourite way to get to France, although it takes time to first get from Edinburgh to London.

Finally, you can travel by plane of course. This is the easiest way from Edinburgh. It takes only 90 minutes to fly to Paris, and the tickets are normally very cheap. This time, I actually flew to Marseille in the south of France. It was beautiful there, there are mountains where you can go hiking and you can also swim in the sea.  The picture I attached is from hiking in the mountains.
