Hi, welcome to Ms. Jun's Chinese class.
Today I want to have a small talk about the Chinese Question Particles: 吗,呢,吧,啊,呀
They are so common that every Chinese use one of it at least  once everyday, but for foreigners, it's difficult to tell the differences between them.
Let me tell you how.

                                                           吗 mā
It can be used when you want to confirm sth., and usually for the yes-no question

(nǐ shì zhōng guó rén ma? hái shì rì běn rén ma?)
Are you a Chinese? or a Japanese?

(nǐ rèn shí tā ma?)
    Do you know Him?

You can only answer them with "yes" or "no".

But please remind that 吗
can not be used in the Choice Questions. For example,

(nì chī mǐ fàn hái shì chī miàn tiáo?)
Do you want to eat rice or noodles?

(nǐ shì bú shì xué shēng?
)
Are you a student (or not)?

                                                                 呢nē
It is used in the Special or What-Questions. Can you raise some examples? Yes, such as When/Where/Who/What/Why/How/How many.....

(nǐ xué zhōng wén duō jiǔ le nē)
How long have you been studying  Chinese?

(wǒ de qián bāo nē)
   Where is my wallet?

In come cases, it is used as a bounce-back question to keep the converstion going on.

(wǒ hěn xǐhuān hē kā fēi. nǐ nē)
I like coffee, what abou you?

( hǎo jiǔ bú jiàn, zuì jìn zěn me yàng?)
(wǒ hěn hǎo, ní ne)
A: Long time no see, How's every thing?
B: Fine. What about you.

Now, it's question time. Please choose 吗 or 呢  for the questions. You can type your answers below.

1. 你叫什么名字(   )?  nǐ jiao shén me míng zì(   )
    What's your name?

2. 怎么去酒店(   )?     zěn me qù jiǔ diàn(   )
How to go to the hotel?

Do you want to drink tea or juice?

Do you go to work tomorrow?

Here comes the end of my lesson. I will explain the left next time and See you.
