Day 9 ( April 10)
We got up and went and enjoyed some tea and sweets at Ritsurin Garden in Takamatsu-
then we went over to meet another Foreign wife of Japanese who has lives in Takematsu since the 1980s where her husband has an orange farm which we got to tour and their beautiful log home her husband is talented with building/designing and art in general so gorgeous — she also took us up to the temple at the top of the mountain and told us how every year for new years the whole community climbs the mountain to watch the first sunrise —it is a place where the traditions of Japan are still deeply practiced and alive. We then enjoyed a great Italian lunch together. It wasn’t such an eventful day but it flew by !
We then went up Yashima mountain for a great view of the city of Takamatsu .
Day 10 ( April 11)
We work up in Tokushima at the roadside station and took a luxurious morning taking our time to shop at the store for souvenirs, we then headed out to a lovely doggy friendly cafe to meet another 3 ladies who are foreign wives of Japanese , An American (the author of the book Cinnamon Beach that I offer for bookclub class ), a Scottish lady and a Canadian as well - the food was delicious and everything seemed to be handmade or grown from their garden .
We then headed over to try and see the Naruto (whirlpools ) but by the time we got there they were fairly small. The walkway under the bridge was definitely a bit scary .
Before leaving I tried some olive gelato ice cream was delicious ! Highly recommended .
Then we headed off for the long drive home . We have now visited 32 of 47 prefectures as we work towards our goal of visiting every prefecture .
Though I missed the side island trips maybe I will do those in the future.
