Sun, Sea and Suzie. From a Dream to a Crazy Reality in a Spanish village in the Sunshine!

Suzie Q

Hola!
Let me take you on a little journey—my journey—of moving to Spain with my two daughters, in my tiny 1.2 Cleo packed to the brim! And how I somehow managed to survive, thrive, and laugh through it all.

Picture this: a bright, sunny village in the South of Spain, right in the heart of Almeria. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows your name—and your laundry schedule.

Welcome to my true Spanish village, with a lot going on! We’ve got lively fiestas, unexpected siestas, and enough adventures to fill a lifetime—if I could just remember where I left my sunglasses!

Moving to another country: Easy? Yes!
Honestly, if I had a euro for every funny mistake I’ve made trying to speak Spanish, I’d be rich enough to buy a lifetime supply of churros.

Learning a second language isn’t just about grammar and vocabulary; it’s about surviving the chaos of everyday life, like ordering food without accidentally asking for chips instead of crisps (true story).

Living in Spain for over 16 years
Can you believe it? More than a decade and a half of embracing tapas, siestas, and that unmistakable Spanish charm. I met my wonderful husband here—proof that living abroad can bring love, laughter, and a lot of “¿Qué? and ¡Si!” moments.

What’s it really like living abroad?
It’s not all sangria and sunshine—there are days when you might want to hide behind your fan, and nights when you’re trying to learn the local lingo but accidentally tell someone you “like to dance with potatoes.” (Yes, that happened.)

But every mistake is a step closer to speaking better, understanding more, and living a life that’s full of stories—some hilarious, some downright embarrassing.

Join Me!
If you're learning English and dreaming of adventure, I invite you to laugh with me, learn from my blunders, and imagine yourself in a charming village, surrounded by friendly faces, new foods and adventures.

Let’s explore, laugh, and learn together. ¡Vamos!
