Learning is Everywhere: From Sunny Walks to Fun Lessons!

Sabwa

Hello Cafetalk family!

When I’m not teaching Swahili or English, you’ll probably find me out enjoying life, like in this photo where I was soaking up the sunshine and greenery! ?? Fresh air, good vibes, and positive energy  that’s exactly the same atmosphere I bring into my lessons.

One thing I’ve learned (outside of class and in life) is that language learning should never feel like a boring task. It should feel like an adventure , like taking the wrong path on a hike and discovering something amazing (yes, that happened to me once… I ended up finding cicada husks instead of the park I was looking for! ??).

That’s why in my classes, we:
Laugh while learning – Mistakes? They’re part of the fun!
Practice real-life conversations – No robotic textbook talk here. If you’re traveling to East Africa, you’ll learn greetings that make locals smile.
Add cultural flavor – You’ll not only learn words but also when and how to use them naturally.

To students: Don’t just learn in class, practice in life. Order coffee in Swahili, text a friend in English, or even talk to your pet in your new language. (Mine always thinks I’m crazy, but hey, it works!)

To tutors: Bring your personality into your lessons. Your students will love it! Whether you love music, travel, or just a good joke, share it. Teaching becomes magic when it feels human.

What’s the funniest or most unexpected thing that happened in your lesson or learning journey? Share it below I’d love to hear your stories!
