Spring flowers

Walking in my local park recently has been a real pleasure because the spring bulbs are really blooming. There are carpets of snowdrops and crocus, and in the last few days the daffodils have suddenly emerged. Here are a selection of pictures I've taken in the last week:
 

 

I can even see the buds on the cherry trees about to burst into life, so I'm excited to see the blossoms very soon. It seems quite early, but we have had quite a mild winter. 

I was saddened to see a recent news article in one of the British newspapers about the cancellation of a Japanese cherry blossom festival due to unruly tourist behaviour:
