Can You Think in English? Try This Simple Trick!

Precious Azi

Many English learners understand words… but still translate in their heads before speaking.

For example:
“I want water” → first you think in your language → then translate → then speak.

This slows you down and makes speaking harder.

Here’s a simple trick to fix it:

Think in small English “chunks” instead of full sentences.

For example:
Instead of:
“I want to go to the shop because I am hungry”

Think:
• I want to go
• to the shop
• I am hungry

Speak step by step like this.

Try this today:
Look around your room and say simple sentences in English:
• This is my phone
• I am sitting
• It is sunny
• I am learning English

Even 2–3 minutes a day helps your brain switch to English thinking.

In my lessons, I help students stop translating and start speaking naturally and confidently.

If you want to improve your speaking step by step, feel free to join my lessons.
