Unlock the potential of rainy days for study !

今週のテーマ: 雨の日のおうち勉強のコツ

Tim Ar.

Hi everyone !

Rainy days trigger natural biological slumps due to reduced sunlight. Counter this by curating a cozy, distraction-free environment that uses rain sounds as white noise, breaking work into smaller intervals, and focusing on lighter, active revision instead of cramming.
Optimize Your Environment
  • Separate Sleep and Study: Avoid studying in bed, as this can make you sleepy and blur the line between relaxation and work. Use a supportive desk or table.
  • Manage Lighting: Dim harsh overhead lights and use a soft, warm lamp to create a cozy nook without causing eye strain.
  • Stimulate the Senses: Brew a hot cup of tea or coffee, and try uplifting scents like rosemary or peppermint to boost your alertness.
  • Embrace the Sound: Natural rain is an excellent white noise to calm your brain and block out distractions.
Maximize Productivity
  • Use breaks: Break sessions into manageable chunks: 25-50 minutes of focused studying, followed by a 5-10 minute stretch or a moment to look at the rain.
  • Focus on Revision: Rainy days are perfect for reviewing old notes, making flashcards, and strengthening fundamentals rather than cramming brand-new topics.
  • Vary Your Methods: Switch between flashcards, practice questions, and diagramming to keep your brain engaged and prevent monotony.
  • Hide Your Phone: Because rainy weather naturally relaxes us, it's easy for short breaks to turn into hour-long social media sessions.
Thanks and see you in class!

Regards,

Tim.
