The Weekend Story Chain Challenge: Let's Play a Game!

Liz English

The weekend is finally here, and I thought it would be fun to try something a little different and a bit playful.

I want to see if we can connect, share a laugh, and write a silly story together right here in the comments.

Let's play a famous game called "Fortunately / Unfortunately."

How to Play:

It's really easy - you just need to write one sentence!

The game is a chain. Each person adds to the story, but we must alternate between good luck (Fortunately) and bad luck (Unfortunately).

For example, if I start with a Fortunately, the first person to comment must start with the word Unfortunately. The next person's sentence must respond to the previous sentence and start with Fortunately, and so on.

Here is a quick example of how it looks:

Liz: Fortunately, I won a free ticket to fly anywhere in the world.

First comment: Unfortunately, the airline lost my luggage during the flight.

Second comment: Fortunately, a friendly millionaire sitting next to me gave me enough money to buy 10 new outfits.

Third comment: Unfortunately...

Don't worry about perfect grammar—this is just for fun. Let’s see how silly this story can get over the weekend!

I will start things off with the first line of the game:

Fortunately, a mysterious package was delivered to my house this morning with my name on it.

Who is going to write the first "Unfortunately..."? to continue the game? Tutors, students, you are all welcome to join in!
