Hello everyone! I'm Meg, living in Taiwan.
Last time, I shared how I ended up going to graduate school, so I was planning to write about my grad school memories today...
...To be completely honest, I barely remember anything from grad school (haha)!
Maybe it just didn't leave a super strong impression on me, but even I have to laugh at how little I recall (please don't ask what I was even doing there! haha).
So today, I want to talk about my very first job at a Japanese language school, which I started right after entering grad school!
After enrolling, I began working at a language school. I still vividly remember the very first class assigned to me: a "JLPT N3 Grammar Class."
Why do I remember it so clearly? ...Because it was definitely NOT a fond memory (sob).
To give you the bottom line first: I faced a total storm of complaints from the students (well, maybe a slight exaggeration haha), and was instantly labeled as a "teacher who isn't good at teaching."
Having zero teaching experience and never having taught Japanese before... What on earth went wrong?
I'll reveal the truth behind that "disastrous (?)" first lesson in the next column, so stay tuned!
