Hello everyone!
Today’s topic is a hobby that helps me stay creative.
Actually, I have two. The first one is motorcycle riding. The second one is walking around my neighborhood and playing with my sons.
They’re very different activities, but both of them help me refresh my mind and see things in a new way.
Motorcycle riding helps me clear my head
I really enjoy riding my Yahaha SR 400. When I’m busy with work, family life, and daily responsibilities, my head can feel full of many different thoughts.
But when I ride my motorcycle, things feel simpler.
I can feel the wind. I can enjoy the scenery. I can breathe fresh air. I can focus on the road in front of me.
That helps me clear my head.
I think everyone needs something that gives their mind a little space. For some people, it might be running, cooking, listening to music, drawing, gardening, or taking a walk.
For me, motorcycle riding is one of those things. It gives me time to think, but it also gives me time not to think too much.
That balance is important.
Fresh air is good for creativity
When I stay inside too long, I sometimes feel stuck. Maybe you know that feeling too.
You sit at your desk, try to think of a good idea, and nothing happens.
But after going outside for a while, your mind can feel different. Fresh air, movement, and new scenery can help new ideas appear naturally.
I don’t think creativity always comes from trying harder. Sometimes it comes from taking a break. Sometimes it comes from changing your environment.
Sometimes it comes from giving your mind room to breathe.
My sons help me see the world differently
Another thing that helps me stay creative is spending time with my sons.
We often walk around our neighborhood together. Sometimes we go to a park.
Sometimes we look at insects, plants, rocks, signs, or strange things we find on the ground.
Sometimes we just play and act silly.
Children are very good at noticing things adults miss. A small bug can become exciting. A stick can become a sword. A puddle can become an adventure.
A normal walk around the neighborhood can become a story.
When I’m with my sons, I remember that the world can be more interesting if we look at it with curiosity.
Creativity is not only for artists
When people hear the word “creative,” they often think about art, music, writing, or design.
Those are creative, of course. But I think creativity is useful for everyone.
We use creativity when we solve problems. We use creativity when we explain something in a new way. We use creativity when we try to understand another person.
We use creativity when we learn a language.
For English learners, creativity can be very helpful. Even if you don’t know the perfect word, you can find another way to explain your idea. Even if you make a mistake, you can try again with a different sentence.
That’s creativity too.
A small idea for learners
If you feel stuck with English, try changing your environment.
You could...
- study in a different room
- take a walk and describe what you see
- listen to English while walking
- write about something outside your window
- talk about a hobby you enjoy
- explain something from a child’s point of view
You don’t always need to study in the same way. Sometimes a small change can make English feel fresh again.
My question for you
What helps you stay creative?
Maybe it’s a hobby.
Maybe it’s exercise.
Maybe it’s time with family.
Maybe it’s quiet time alone.
Maybe it’s talking with friends.
For me, motorcycle riding helps me clear my head, and walking with my sons helps me see the world from new perspectives.
Both remind me that creativity doesn’t always come from sitting at a desk. Sometimes it comes from moving, playing, exploring, and enjoying the world around us.
Thanks for reading!
