みなさんは、「お盆（ぼん）」という言葉を聞いたことがありますか？
お盆（ぼん）とは、亡（な）くなったご先祖様（せんぞさま）の霊（れい）がこの世（このよ）に戻（もど）ってくると言われている時期（じき）で、
帰ってきたご先祖様（せんぞさま）と一緒（いっしょ）に過ごして、再（ふたた）び送り出します。

お盆（ぼん）に行う習慣（しゅうかん）は地域（ちいき）によって違います。
また、お盆（ぼん）の時期（じき）も地域（ちいき）によって異（こと）なりますが、
一般的（いっぱんてき）には8月13日から16日の4日間です。

この時期（じき）は「お盆（ぼん）休み」といって、仕事を休みにしている会社が多くあります。
そのため、お盆（ぼん）には、帰省（きせい）してお墓参（はかまい）りをする人が多いです。
また、お盆（ぼん）は祝日（しゅくじつ）ではないためお盆（ぼん）休みがない会社もありますが、
休日（きゅうじつ）になっていなくても、この時期（じき）に休みを取る人がたくさんいます。
最近（さいきん）は、帰省（きせい）をしないで、旅行（りょこう）に出かけたり、自宅（じたく）でゆっくり過ごしたりする人もいます。
