Both sentences describe a repeated action, but the time of the action is different:
I drank coffee again today.
I’ll drink coffee again tomorrow.
“又” indicates that an action happened before and has already happened again.
I drank coffee yesterday, and I drank it again today.
Drinking coffee happened yesterday, and it has already happened again today, so we use “又”.
He was late last week, and he was late again today.
Both instances of being late have already happened.
“再” indicates that an action will happen again in the future or that someone plans to do it again.
I drank coffee today, and I’ll drink it again tomorrow.
Drinking coffee tomorrow has not happened yet, so we use “再”.
This movie is very good. I want to watch it again next week.
Watching the movie a second time is a future plan.
“又” tells us that something has already happened again.
“再” tells us that something will happen again in the future.
I drank coffee again today.
I’ll drink coffee again tomorrow.
Use “又” for repetition in the past or present, and “再” for repetition in the future.
