Bonus Episode: NON-Boring Small Talk

Dani L.

Try this if the usual small talk bores you, and you’re feeling brave ??

1. “How’s your day going on a scale of 1-10?”
2. “What’s the best thing that’s happened to you in the last couple months?”
3. “Are you working on anything new lately?”

When leaving:

1. “I’ll be thinking of what you told me earlier.”
2. “Remember to check out [insert topic]. I’m gonna quiz you next time.”
3. When your face starts to blur in my mind, I hope you’ll pop up again soon.”

Vocabulary / from this video:

Turn off (n.) = something that you do not like, or something that makes you lose interest in a person or situation. It is the opposite of attractive.

The usual (noun phrase) =

1.     The thing that’s usually said or done

2.     The food, drink, or item that you always order because you visit a place very often.

Flirty (adj.) = being playful, loving, or charming way because they like someone and want to show attraction.

When something starts to blur = it means your memories or the details of an event are becoming unclear, foggy, or hard to remember perfectly. Just like a blurry photo is hard to see, a blurry memory is hard to remember.

To pop up (phrasal verb) = to appear suddenly
