Our Brain and the BEATEN PATH

Maria Gayle

Why do we need to practice speaking in English regularly? If we practice speaking on a daily basis, our brain will become similar to a beaten path.

And what is a BEATEN PATH? It is a path that is formed because people constantly walk on it. If this path is regularly used, perhaps many times in a day, the path widens and becomes easily accessible. In the same manner, we have synapses in our brain that receive information. If we keep on receiving that information on a regular basis, the nerve cells recognize it, and in time it creates a new pattern of thinking in us. So, what happens if we make it a habit to have English conversations daily? Our brain becomes like the beaten path, and we will become more familiar with the language, making us speak English better.

What if we don’t practice because we’re always busy and don’t have time for English conversations? Then our brain will become like a forest – we don’t know where to step because the path is not visible anymore!

So, sometimes in a conversation, we just stay silent because we don’t know what to say. We have forgotten the right expression or the right word to use, and our brain just can’t remember! We must never allow that to happen! Let the memory of English words and phrases stay in the synapses of our brain. Let us leave an IMPRINT, and keep our path wide for easy access. Then, when we need to express an idea, we can easily remember what to say, and doing it fluently because of constant practice.

I encourage you all to book a lesson with me, and let’s practice English together. SEE YOU IN MY CLASS!
