Homonyms: Words that have the same spelling and same pronunciation, but
different meanings.
Example: I hope you are not "lying" to me. - telling a lie
My phone is lying on the table. - being in a horizontal position

meanings.
Example: The (wind) is blowing hard. - a moving air (rhymes with pinned)

Homophones: Words that have the same pronunciation, but different spelling
and different meanings.
Example: (sent, scent)
sent - is the past tense and past participle of the verb send. It is used for completed action. E.g. I sent a mail yesterday.
scent - distictive smell specially that one is pleasant. E.g. The scent of a freshly cut grass.
