Description

Describing pictures is one of the best ways to improve your English skills. It is very effective for:
  • learning new vocabulary (general or specific)
  • learning descriptive phrases
  • using a variety of descriptive and comparative adjectives
  • using present simple & present continuous tenses accurately
  • prepositions of place & position
  • speculating
  • engaging your brain in a new & creative way (speaking while looking at pictures uses different parts of the brain and can support better fluency)
I will choose pictures & photographs that are appropriate to your age and level of ability, and will assist you with suggestions and questions about the images. 
 
You are also welcome to provide your own pictures or photographs if you prefer! You can talk about them in a literal, descriptive way, or we can talk about your thoughts, feelings & associations with the images
 
This lesson would also be perfect for anybody who wishes to talk about famous paintings or artworks, and can be taken as an art appreciation class. 
 
Because the ability to describe pictures is such an important skill,  many English exams (e.g Cambridge, EIKEN, TOEIC) have a section on describing images. If you are preparing for an exam please let me know and I will ensure that I tailor the lesson to meet the requirements of your exam.
 
If you wish to broaden your vocabulary and descriptive skills in a certain area (for example for specific work purposes) then just let me know when you book and I will use images relevant to your area of interest.
