Dear student,

You will need dice (two)!

First, you will make a list of six things you regularly do in the morning: your daily morning routine.

Next, we’ll look at the following adverbs of frequency:

First

Next

Then

After

Then

Finally

 

Here’s an example of six things in someone’s morning routine.

 

I get up. 

I get dressed. 

I brush my teeth. 

I eat breakfast. 

I watch TV. 

I go to work.

 

We’ll put the adverbs of sequence next to them on the left, like so:

First           I get up. 

Next          I get dressed. 

Then          I brush my teeth. 

After that    I eat breakfast. 

Then           I watch TV. 

Finally         I go to work.

 

We’ll do this for a little while until you feel comfortable and confident.

 In the next stage, using dice, we mix up the sentences to make them a little silly and therefore more fun.

This activity is very useful for developing fluency and I guarantee you will laugh a lot and have fun!
