Learn to interpret the world like a cultural anthropologist. This class introduces the tools of social theory—how culture, power, identity, and systems shape human life—and shows you how to apply them to real-world issues and your own research projects.

Description

Gain the tools to decode culture, analyze power, and understand the forces driving change in today’s world. This course blends classic social theory with real-world examples to help you think critically about society—and your place in it.

Understanding the complexities of culture, power, and social change is essential for anyone studying the social sciences or engaging with today’s rapidly changing world. In this course, we’ll explore the key theories and concepts that help explain how societies work, how people interact, and how change happens.

You’ll learn to:

  • Analyze cultural systems – identify how values, beliefs, and practices shape daily life.

  • Apply major social theories – from classical thinkers to contemporary approaches.

  • Examine power and inequality – understand the forces that maintain or challenge social structures.

  • Think critically about change – explore how movements, technology, and ideas transform societies.

This course blends academic theory with real-world examples, giving you tools to interpret current events, historical shifts, and cultural trends. Whether you’re preparing for an exam, writing a research paper, or expanding your worldview, you’ll develop skills that are valuable across disciplines—from anthropology and sociology to political science, law, business, and education.

You can book this as a one-time introduction to cultural analysis or as part of an ongoing mentorship, where we dive deeper into theory, connect it to your research, and strengthen your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
