Lesson Plan: Nouns for Kids
Objective
By the end of the lesson, kids will:
- Understand what nouns are.
- Identify common nouns in their surroundings.
- Use nouns to make simple sentences.
Introduction: What Are Nouns?

Explain:
- Nouns are naming words! They name people, animals, places, and things.
- Examples:
- People: teacher, mom, boy
- Animals: dog, cat, elephant
- Places: school, park, beach
- Things: ball, car, apple

- Can you name one person, one animal, one place, and one thing?

Warm-Up Game: Point and Name
- Point to something in the classroom (e.g., table, door, or a student).
- Kids take turns naming it

- Sing to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”:
“A noun is a special name,
People, places, things, the same.
Dog and park and ball are three,
A noun names what you can see!”

Teach: Types of Nouns
Use simple definitions:

- Ask kids to write down (or draw) 5 nouns they see at home.
