In this lesson, we’ll explore "Wait for Me Yesterday in Spring," a captivating, emotional story set against the backdrop of spring in Japan; a season of beautiful cherry blossoms and the quite hope of second chances.
The novel weaves together themes of regret, time travel, and how the past shapes our present.
This is a relaxed, discussion-based session, designed ideally for intermediate and upper-intermediate English learners who enjoy Japanese novels, emotional stories, or sci-fi with a quiet, reflective atmosphere.
Although we’ll be reading the English version, this book was originally written in Japanese and is available in both languages; so if you decide to read the full book, you can refer to the Japanese edition for support if needed.
In this lesson, you will:
•Learn new vocabulary related to time, memory, and emotion
•Practice reading and pronunciation through reading an excerpt from the book
•Improve your speaking and comprehension skills through an engaging discussion about the themes of the story
If you enjoy thought-provoking stories that challenge our understanding of time and are rich in vivid descriptions of the spring season, this lesson is for you!
