As a native  British English speaker, and experienced TEFL 5 qualified tutor, I have coached many IELTS students. My top students achieved scores of 8 and 9. Many students achieved the score of 6 or 6.5 they needed to gain admission to university. One happy student achieved the score of 7 she needed to get in The University of Oxford, UK.
