Lesson 1
Students learn common colors, such as:
-red
-blue
-yellow
-green
-orange
-purple
Teachers usually introduce these with pictures or colored objects.
Example:
It’s red.
It’s blue.
Expansion: The ball is red. The ball is not blue.
Students also review letters A-D with common words such as Apple, Ball, Car and Dog. "What color the the apple?/The apple is red."
Lesson 2
Students learn words for common toys, for example:
-ball
-doll
-car
-train
-teddy (teddy bear)
The teacher will show pictures or real toys while students listen and repeat.
Example: It’s a ball. It’s a doll.
Expansion: "What do you like to play with? I like to play with a doll."
Lesson 2-3 also contain key words such as:

-desk
Lesson 3
Students learn basic numbers:
-one
-two
-three
-four
-five
The teacher will use fingers, pictures, or classroom objects to help students count.
Example: One ball. Three cars
Expansion: There is one blue ball. There are three red cars.

Lesson 4
Students learn common family words such as:
-mom / mother
-dad / father
-brother
-sister
-baby
The teacher will show family pictures to help students understand the relationships.
Example: This is my mom. This is my brother.
Expansion: How many Moms are there? There are 5 Moms. How many girls are there? There are 6 girls.
Lesson 5
Food and drinks
Students learn the names of common foods.

Students often use simple identification sentences.
