Original textbook "Practical use! Training on the honorific language!"
Description
This is a textbook on honorific expressions for use in Japanese business situations and in society in general.
This book is a must-have for Japanese language learners who are doing business with Japanese people, as well as for Japanese people who want to acquire business terminology and keigo (honorifics).
In general, there are only a few pages devoted to honorific expressions in textbooks for learners of Japanese. For example, there are no detailed explanations of how to use "書かれます", "お書きになります", "お書きします", and "書かせていただきます".
However, in real life, if you use the highest level of honorifics toward a close friend, thinking that the more polite you are, the better, the more distant the other person will feel, and conversely, if you use the same honorifics that you use as a friend, even if the other person is the president, you may not be showing enough respect. I wanted to help people learn to use various forms of honorifics according to the person they are talking to and the situation, which led me to create my own textbook.
Based on my experience working for a general trading company, I have also included a glossary of terms that are often used in business situations and as a member of society. I hope you will find it useful.
