Let’s talk about the news!

In this lesson, we’ll use a current news article as the starting point for a natural English conversation. Rather than simply reading and answering comprehension questions, you’ll have the opportunity toshare your opinions, explain your ideas, ask questions and discuss real-world topics in English.

Before or during the lesson, we’ll choose a short article based on an interesting current event. We’ll look at useful vocabulary and expressions from the article, clarify anything that is difficult, and then move into discussion. I’ll help you express your ideas more naturally, correct important mistakes and introduce vocabulary that you can use beyond the lesson.

In this lesson, you can practise:

Speaking confidently about current events
Expressing and supporting your opinions
Learning vocabulary and expressions in context
Improving pronunciation and natural sentence structure
Understanding English used in real-world news
Discussing more complex topics in English

This lesson is best suited forintermediate to advanced learnerswho want to move beyond textbook English and become more comfortable discussing real topics. You don’t need to know everything about the news or prepare a complicated argument — come ready to read, think, talk and share your perspective. 😊
