Description

 1. Presentation (8 minutes)

Objective: Introduce and model key travel phrases.

a. Lead-in (2 minutes)

Ask warm-up questions to activate background knowledge:

  • “Have you ever traveled to another country?”

  • “What problems can happen when you travel?”

  • “What English words do you already know about airports, hotels, or restaurants?”

Show 3–4 travel-related pictures (airport, hotel, restaurant, taxi).
Elicit what they see and connect to the topic:
👉 “Today we’ll learn useful phrases for travel!”

b. Present new phrases (6 minutes)

Introduce phrases by situation and model pronunciation.
Write or show on screen, one section at a time.

Teaching steps:

  1. Say each phrase slowly and clearly.

  2. Have students repeat (choral and individual drilling).

  3. Explain short meanings or situations.

  4. Use quick visuals or gestures to help understanding.


🗣️ 2. Practice (10 minutes)

Objective: Students practice using the phrases in controlled, guided ways.

a. Matching / Identification (3 minutes)

Show pictures or short dialogues.
Students match each phrase to the correct situation.
Example:

  • “Can I have the Wi-Fi password?” → Hotel

  • “Could I see the menu?” → Restaurant

b. Role-play practice (7 minutes)

Students practice short dialogues using target phrases.

Example 1 – At the airport:
 Teacher: “Good morning. Where are you flying to?”
 Student: “To Paris. What time is my flight?”

Example 2 – At the hotel:
 Teacher: “Good evening. Do you have a reservation?”
 Student: “Yes, I have a reservation.”

Encourage correct pronunciation and polite tone (“please,” “thank you”).


💬 3. Production (5 minutes)

Objective: Use the learned phrases freely in real-life situations.

Activity: Travel Role-Play or Mini-Dialogue

Give a travel scenario and ask students to create their own short conversation using at least three target phrases.

Example prompts:

  • You arrive at a hotel after a long flight.

  • You’re at a restaurant in a new country.

  • You need to ask for directions to a famous place.

Let them perform for the class or in pairs. Give light feedback and praise fluency over perfection.


🧠 4. Wrap-Up (2 minutes)

Review key points:

  • Ask: “Which phrase can you use at the airport?”

  • “How do you ask for Wi-Fi at a hotel?”

  • “Which phrase is useful at a restaurant?”

Optional Homework:
Write a short 5-line dialogue using at least three phrases from today
