Pronunciation Lesson - All Levels
English pronunciation includes many sounds that don’t exist in Japanese - but don’t worry! With the right practice, you can make significant improvements and communicate more clearly and confidently.
In this lesson, we will cover key rules and practice activities to improve your pronunciation of words and sentences. The three main focus areas are:
- Basic phonics
E.g. bag vs. bug / clam vs. cram / worm vs. warm / thick vs. sick - Word stress
E.g. hoTEL (not HOtel) / eVENT (not EEvent) / adVICE (not ADvice) / PROgress vs. proGRESS - Sentence and speech flow
E.g. connected speech, stressed words, and natural rhythm for more fluent speaking
After the lesson, I will send you the materials so you can practice in your own time.
I am a native British English speaker and also speak Japanese, which gives me a good understanding of the challenges Japanese learners often face. This lesson focuses on addressing those challenges.
