Have you ever been in a situation where people are speaking English and you can't understand what they're saying?

Or an English speaker approaches you asking for directions and you haven't understood where they want to go?

Well, this is the lesson for you. You may choose (or I can suggest) an audio file of native speakers discussing different topics.

Once you've listened to the file before the lesson, we discuss the content, expressions, pronunciation, and meaning during the lesson.

There is also a longer 50-minute version of this lesson based on lengthier audio files.

This lesson is offered in Skype audio/video OR audio-only. Please mention AUDIO-ONLY when requesting the lesson if you prefer no video.

引き続きリスニングのレッスンを初めて受けてみました。教材を３つ送って下さり（冒頭の部分のみ）、興味のあるものを１つ選ばせて下さいます。ジョークから始まる会話が面白そうかなと思って選択したら、内容は少々ハードであった！のですが、自分の聞き取りはまだまだ全然だなーと実感しました。。。少しずつでも向上するようにまた引き続き受講して行きたいと思います。レッスンが終わってからの雑談も楽しかったです。話しやすくて本当にいい先生でレッスンがいつも楽しみです！

I had another great lesson with Charles. I requested my favorite interview for this lesson. I wrote a summary of the interview beforehand because there is no transcript for it and I wanted to see how much I understood it as well as I wanted to practice writing. He listened to the audio before our class and even talked about it with his friend! In our lesson, he corrected my writing, we talked about the related topic, and we listened together to the parts I didn’t quite understand. I was so pleased that he extended the time and answered all my questions until everything was clear to me. I’m a big fan of his teaching style and personalities. I highly recommend that everyone tries his lesson out!! 今回のレッスンでは、私のお気に入りのインタビューをリクエストしました。トランスクリプトがなかったので、どれぐらい理解したかを知りたかったのと、ライティングの練習も兼ねてインタビューの要約を書いて、レッスンでチェックしてもらいました。長いインタビューだったのに、チャールス先生はレッスン前にちゃんと聞いてくれていて、ご友人とそのインタビューについて話しもしたそうです！レッスンでは他に、インタビューに関連したトピックを話したり、聞き取れなかったところを一緒に聞いて解明してもらいました。私の不明点がなくなるまで、時間も延長して、質問に答えてくれてとても感謝しています。チャールス先生は、本当に熱心で、お人柄も素晴らしく、是非一度は受けてもらいたい先生です！！

Charles gave me great instructions and advice to prepare for the lesson. In the lesson, he quickly pinpointed where I had trouble listening to and explained them. He even showed me Japanese translations of my unknown words. :) His feedback message was very helpful to review the lesson. He is a truly dedicated teacher! レッスンの前に、二つの音声リンクが送られてきて、自分の好きなほうを選ぶのですが、どのような点に気を付けて準備したらいいかをとても丁寧に指示およびアドバイスしてくれて、誠意のある熱心な先生だなと思いました。実際のレッスンも、私が聞き取れなかったところを、すぐに探し、単語の意味を中心に（日本語で単語訳もつけてくれた！）解説してくれました。このレッスンを受けるにあたり、音声を２０回以上聞いて臨んだこと自体がよい勉強になりましたし、先生から音声のスクリプトをいただけたことで、聞けなかったところの謎が解けて嬉しかったです。また、受けたいと思います！
