ColinP Tutor Profile

Hello everyone! My name is Colin and I'm from Scotland in the United Kingdom, but now I teach online and in person from my studio on the Isle of Wight. I spend a lot of my time in Japan, in particular Awaji Island which I find a truly inspiring and special part of the world. Now I am here to help you learn English here on Cafetalk!
 
I am a big believer in practice makes perfect, and that you can  learn a language faster and easier if you are more confident when you speak. My lessons are more focused on talking about what you are interested in or what is important to you, rather than focus on endless grammar excercises and word lists. I will encourage you to speak as much as possible, so I will be a patient and encouraging teacher to allow you to feel comfortable speaking.

I love painting, travelling, and vintage motorcycles, so I will often talk about these things when I introduce myself. I have also lived and worked in the Arctic circle and South American Rainforest, as well as many other parts of the world, and I'm still very interested in history and culture from all around the world, so I will often ask questions and try to learn from you.
 
As well as being a fully TEFL level 3 qualified english teacher, I'm also an expedition and adventure artist and art workshop leader too.


I’ve had the incredible opportunity to travel the world, exploring different countries, cultures, landscapes, and ways of life. This passion for discovery has deeply influenced my teaching style, where I aim to bring the same sense of wonder, creativity, and curiosity to each lesson.

 
With over ten years of experience as both an english language and art tutor, I’ve guided everyone from children to adults, students to businessmen and women, including individuals with special needs, in discovering their voice through discussion, art, and storytelling. 

My classes are all about creating a comfortable, supportive environment where you feel free to express yourself, make mistakes, and learn at a supported pace. I’m here to help you build your confidence, expand your vocabulary, and develop your skills, whether you’re just starting your English journey or looking to refine your abilities. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to suit your unique needs and goals. Plus, I’m flexible with scheduling and can accommodate working across a variety of time zones too.
