♡ I am Midori, a psychological counselor.
I currently work as a psychological counselor. Due to my partner’s job, I have lived abroad for a long time (in the United States, Burkina Faso, China, Russia, and the Philippines), during which I experienced loneliness as well as bullying within the Japanese community. During my time in Russia starting in 2022, I often felt depressed wondering how long the situation would continue as Russia’s military invasion progressed. During these though times, my heart and soul felt lighter just by talking to someone I could trust. From this experience, I wanted to be a source of support for others as well, so I started my own business as a psychological counselor. I went onto university and graduated from the Department of Human Sciences (Psychology Course). I encountered narrative therapy, which is one of the psychological approaches, and completed the “Mariana Narrative Therapy” course.
I have 3 years of experience as a psychological counselor, 5 years of experience as a study abroad counselor. I have also worked as a nurse in a general hospital and home nursing care.
♡ What is narrative therapy (story therapy)?
Narrative therapy is a psychological approach that involves discussing past events and creating a new life story from them. It is also referred to as reminiscence therapy. By talking about the confusion and concerns that are in your mind, your emotions can be released, and you will be able to feel a sense of relief and lightness. By sharing your story, your future can change positively. It has a healing effect and is a gentle therapy suitable for modern day situations where people are oftentimes mentally exhausted.
