Hiroco.N Tutorenprofil

Nice to meet you! I'm Hiroco, a Japanese language tutor!

I was born and raised in Osaka. When you think of Osaka, takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and the Osaka dialect probably come to mind. I love conversation and humor myself, so in my lessons, I place a high value on having a good laugh together while still focusing on serious learning.

However, I never leave anything you don't understand vague or unresolved.

I completed the Japanese Language Teacher Training Course at university, obtained my qualification as a Japanese language teacher, and passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test. I have taught many learners, mainly in Europe and Asia, and have conducted over 3,500 lessons on Cafetalk.

My students often describe me as "professional," "providing rich and substantial content," and "giving concrete and easy-to-understand explanations."

What I value most is never ending an explanation with a simple "That's just how it is in Japan."

  • Why is this expression used?

  • What kind of interpersonal distance or cultural background lies behind it?

  • How would it sound to the other person in a professional workplace?

Instead of being vague, I will explain these aspects as clearly and logically as possible.

I also draw upon my diverse background—including translation and interpretation at an IT company, freelance translation, HR consulting, and theatrical activities abroad—to enrich my lessons.

In particular, I help intermediate and advanced learners who use Japanese at work with challenges such as:

  • "I am speaking politely, but my true meaning isn't getting across."

  • "I want to express a counteropinion or a problem without damaging my relationships."

  • "I don't understand the unspoken rules of the Japanese workplace."

Together, we will analyze and organize these challenges based on real-life scenarios.

Let's think, talk, laugh, and learn together!

Learning a language is not just about increasing the number of words you can use.

  • It means gradually beginning to understand people and cultures you couldn't understand before.

  • It means becoming able to put your thoughts into words that you previously couldn't express.

  • It means becoming capable of taking on new jobs and building new relationships.

I believe that learning a language opens new doors in life.

In my lessons, I place equal importance on both having fun chatting and thinking deeply.

Please feel free to ask any questions without hesitation. Even for difficult topics, we can sort them out and work through them together.

True to my Osaka roots, we will have a laugh from time to time—but I never compromise on the quality of my lessons, and I will approach your Japanese learning with the utmost sincerity.

I look forward to seeing you in my lesson!
