Gioia Tutor Profile

Self-Introduction

For the past 10 years, I have provided one-on-one Korean language assistance to Japanese individuals visiting South Korea.
My teaching style focuses on everyday conversation and basic grammar, which I deliver gently and thoroughly at each learner’s pace.

Having worked for many years in marketing at internationally-affiliated companies,
I have been immersed in environments handling VIP interactions and official documents,
So I am also well-versed in formal Korean terms necessary for business.
I can also teach Korean skills that you can immediately start using in your workplace,
Such as email composition, expressions for meetings, and the proper use of honorifics.

As a mother currently living in the Seocho/Gangnam area,
I also teach Japanese group lessons for mothers in my neighborhood.
This means you can enjoy practicing everyday conversations and natural expressions that mothers in South Korea often use with each other.

Korean and Japanese may seem similar as languages, but the differences in word usage and subtle nuances are significant.
I specialize in clearly organizing these “differences” and explaining them by comparing them to Japanese.
Even complex grammar and expressions can be conveyed using relatable metaphors in a way that “makes it easy to visualize immediately,
So I often hear, “I understood it right away!” from my students.

Additionally, I have experience teaching Japanese to those wanting to learn it in South Korea,
So I welcome not only Korean learners but also Korean individuals who want to learn Japanese.

What is my lesson style like…?

Lessons aren’t conducted in a formal atmosphere,
But rather in a relaxed style, as if you were chatting with a close acquaintance.

I’ll start by simply explaining the day’s key points,
Then I’ll naturally correct pronunciation and phrasing as we chat.
If there’s an expression you don’t understand, I’ll carefully delve into it and explain it on the spot.

Additionally, lesson content can be flexibly adjusted to match your learning goals.

Whether you’re an absolute beginner needing pronunciation practice, looking to review basic grammar, want to engage in casual conversation using dramas or media, or need to learn polite Korean for business settings, I’ll tailor my lessons to match your level and needs.

My lessons are perfect for the following individuals!?

  • Absolute beginners in Korean
  • Learners looking to learn Hangul from the very basics
  • Learners looking to improve their conversation skills
  • Learners who are unsure if they’re using grammar correctly
  • Learners looking to study while understanding the differences from Japanese
  • Learners looking to thoroughly correct their pronunciation
  • Learners looking to study Korean for business settings
All levels are welcome.
I’ll proceed at a relaxed learning pace, so please feel at ease.
