Self-Introduction
Hello! My name is Ynah, and I am an Online ESL Teacher. I speak a bit of Japanese and Korean, but I'm still working on improving my skills. I’m committed to studying and continuously learning to get better in both languages :)
For the past six years, I have been privileged to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to students from around the world, all from the comfort of my own home. This journey of teaching ESL online has been a deeply rewarding experience, filled with rich cultural exchanges, and personal growth.
One of the most significant advantages of online teaching is the flexibility it offers. I have been able to tailor my lessons to suit the individual needs of my students, whether they are young learners just starting their English journey or professionals seeking to enhance their language skills for career advancement.
Over these six years, I have witnessed remarkable transformations in my students. Seeing them progress from hesitant beginners to confident speakers has been incredibly gratifying.
My passion for teaching English extends beyond the language itself. English is a powerful tool that can open doors to new opportunities, whether in education, employment, or personal growth. By teaching English, I am not just helping my students learn a language; I am empowering them to communicate effectively, access global information, and participate in international communities. The ability to speak English can significantly enhance their prospects and enable them to achieve their dreams.
In conclusion, teaching ESL online for six years has been an extraordinary adventure filled with learning, growth, and meaningful connections. The diverse experiences and challenges have shaped me into a more adaptable and empathetic educator. As I look forward to the future, I remain committed to helping my students achieve their goals and fostering a global community through the shared language of English.
Teaching Experience
My ESL journey began with a Chinese company, where I worked as an English tutor for 11 months. This initial experience allowed me to develop my teaching skills and gain confidence in my ability to help students improve their English language proficiency. Following my time there, I transitioned to taking on the role of an IELTS Trainer. This position involved preparing students for the IELTS exam, helping them to achieve their desired scores through targeted practice and personalized feedback.
After gaining valuable experience as an IELTS Trainer, I joined a Korean Online English company where I taught Korean adults. This role allowed me to delve deeper into the specific needs of adult learners, tailoring my lessons to suit their professional and personal language goals. Seeking further diversity in my teaching career, I took on a part-time position with a Vietnam-based online ESL company. This opportunity broadened my understanding of online teaching platforms and the unique challenges and benefits they present.
My next significant experience was with a Philippine-based academy where I taught students from Indonesia, China, Thailand, and Korea. This multicultural environment enriched my teaching approach, as I adapted my methods to accommodate various cultural backgrounds and learning styles.
Finally, I had the unique opportunity to work for a company owned by a Japanese and his associate. As an English Teacher for Japanese students, I was able to specialize in the specific language needs of this group, further diversifying my teaching portfolio and deepening my cultural understanding.
Throughout my ESL journey, I have continually expanded my skills and adapted to various teaching environments, always striving to provide the best possible learning experience for my students.
As for offline classroom setting, I also had the opportunity to teach fresh graduate college students who were preparing to enter the job market. For 15 days, I coached them on resume writing, interview techniques, and professional etiquette, helping them build the skills necessary for successful job applications.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is rooted in creating an engaging and supportive learning environment. I focus on fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued and encouraged to participate. Here’s a bit more about my approach:
Overall, my goal is to inspire and empower students, helping them to not only understand the subject matter but also to develop a love for learning.
